Kolkata, 19 September (H.S.) : The Railway Police have arrested four individuals at the New Jalpaiguri (NJP) station on suspicion of illegal infiltration.

Preliminary investigations by the authorities have revealed that the arrested individuals are originally citizens of Myanmar and had been residing in Bangladesh for a prolonged period before illegally crossing the border.

According to sources within the Railway Police, confidential intelligence was received indicating that four infiltrators had crossed into Indian territory and were planning to travel towards Punjab by train. This crucial piece of information was initially intercepted by the Railway Protection Force (RPF), which immediately alerted the Government Railway Police (GRP). Following the intelligence input, a joint operation was swiftly organized by both security agencies to apprehend the suspects.

The coordinated operation was executed on Friday night as soon as the Tripura Sundari Express arrived at platform 6 of the NJP station. Security personnel launched a thorough search operation inside the general compartment of the train, which led to the successful detention of the four suspects. Following their initial interception and questioning by the RPF, the individuals were formally handed over to the police for further legal proceedings and detailed interrogation.
