
Prayagraj, 19 Sept (HS): Speaking to the media at the
Prayagraj Circuit House on Saturday, Dr. Sanjay Kumar Nishad, Cabinet Minister
of the Uttar Pradesh government and National President of the Nishad Party,
said that the fisheries sector is playing a vital role in strengthening the
state's economy. Various schemes are being implemented with the support of the
central and state governments for the economic and social upliftment of
fishermen and the fishing community.
Dr. Nishad stated that over the past four and a half years,
numerous schemes have been implemented through the Fisheries Department.
According to him, the Fisheries Department was previously viewed as a
relatively neglected department, but now public awareness of fisheries-related
schemes and activities has increased.
He stated that several schemes are being implemented in the
state, including the Prime Minister's Fisheries Property Scheme, the Prime
Minister's Fishermen Accident Insurance Scheme, the Kisan Credit Card (KCC) for
fisheries, NFDP registration, the Chief Minister's Fisheries Property Scheme,
the Nishad Raj Boat Scheme, the Mata Suketa Cage Culture and Aeration System.
He claimed that approximately 1,000 beneficiaries in the Prayagraj division have
already been provided with the benefits of various schemes.
Dr. Nishad stated that a Fishermen Welfare Fund has also
been established. Through this fund, assistance is being provided for needs
such as education, medical care, marriage, and natural disaster relief, and
work is underway to establish the Matsya Utsav Bhawan.
Regarding the upcoming assembly elections, he explained that
the Nishad Party has divided Uttar Pradesh into 10 provinces, each representing
10 Lok Sabha constituencies. According to the party, programs will be organized
in all these provinces, with the program scheduled to begin on September 20 in
Prayagraj.
He said that the program is proposed to be held in the
grounds of Northern Regional Institute of Printing Technology (NRIPT) located
in Teliyarganj. Dr. Nishad said that the party is preparing to contest three
seats in the upcoming assembly elections in Prayagraj, while it is preparing to
field candidates in six assembly seats in the Prayagraj division. He said that
through the proposed program, the party will inform its community members about
the work done and ongoing schemes for the fishermen community while in power.
