New Delhi, 19 September (H.S.): The Central Government will commence training batches under the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY) 2.0 across 14 states and Union Territories from October. Under the programme, 34,920 rural youth will receive skill training.

According to the Union Ministry of Rural Development, 1,164 training batches will commence in October, providing skill training to 34,920 rural youth. The training programme will continue until December 31, 2027.

The Ministry of Rural Development is launching new training batches under DDU-GKY 2.0 in 14 states and Union Territories from October. As part of this initiative, 34,920 rural youth from these 14 states and Union Territories will begin their skill training.

For the launch, the Ministry of Rural Development has reviewed preparations in the first phase across the following 14 states and Union Territory: Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, West Bengal, Odisha, Karnataka, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Mizoram, Sikkim and Puducherry.

A total approved target of training 357,112 rural youth in these 14 states and Union Territory has been set for the period up to December 31, 2027. So far, 24 states and Union Territories have been allocated a target of training a total of 5.6 lakh rural youth under more than 1,200 projects.

It may be noted that DDU-GKY provides employment-oriented skill training to rural poor youth. The duration of the training ranges from three to 12 months. DDU-GKY 2.0 is also an integrated portal designed to facilitate project implementation while promoting greater efficiency, transparency and digital monitoring.
