New Delhi, 19 September (H.S.): A student associated with the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) was caught after allegedly arriving at the Law Centre during the Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) elections to cast her vote using a fake identity card.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national media co-convenor Siddharth Yadav criticised Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over the incident. He said that while Rahul Gandhi has repeatedly raised the issue of “vote theft”, a worker associated with his student wing, NSUI, allegedly arrived to cast a vote using a fake ID and was caught.

Siddharth Yadav said Rahul Gandhi should apologise to students and young people. He added that maintaining transparency and credibility in the electoral process is the responsibility of all political parties and student organisations.

It may be noted that voting for the DUSU elections was held on Friday. The counting of votes is underway on Saturday.
