New Delhi, 19 September (H.S.): BJP workers and local residents staged a protest outside the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) office on Saturday over the alleged role of AAP councillor Vijay Kumar, representing Trilokpuri, in the suicide case of sanitation worker Deepak. The protesters demanded Kumar’s resignation, a fair and impartial investigation into the matter, and strict action against those found responsible. Deepak’s wife, Sangeeta, also joined the protest along with her young child.

The protest was led by BJP MLA Ravikant Ujjainwal, while Municipal Councillor Priyanka Gautam coordinated the demonstration. During the protest, demonstrators raised slogans against Vijay Kumar. A heated argument also broke out between the protesters and employees at the municipal councillor’s office, with the situation briefly escalating into a scuffle.

The protesters said their struggle would continue until justice was delivered to sanitation worker Deepak’s family. They demanded an impartial investigation into the case and said that if the allegations were found to be true, those responsible should face action in accordance with the law.

Priyanka Gautam said sanitation workers work day and night to keep Delhi clean and that any form of injustice against them could not be tolerated. She said the serious allegations that had emerged in Deepak’s case should be investigated impartially and that action should be ensured against those found responsible.

She said ensuring justice for Deepak’s family was not merely a fight for one family, but also a struggle for the dignity and rights of all sanitation workers who contribute to strengthening Delhi’s sanitation system. She demanded that the Aam Aadmi Party and the concerned municipal councillor be held accountable in the matter.

Priyanka Gautam said Deepak’s wife, Sangeeta, had joined the protest in the hope of getting justice. She alleged that the Aam Aadmi Party had so far taken no action against municipal councillor Vijay Kumar.

Former Deputy Mayor Rajkumar Dhillon, former MLA Rohit Mehrauliya, Trilokpuri Mandal president Sunil, along with a large number of local residents and BJP workers, were present at the protest.
