Guwahati, 19 September (HS): Assam Civil Service (ACS) officer Hemanta Kumar Dutta has been dismissed from service for his alleged involvement in the scam related to the utilisation of MP’s Local Area Development (MPLAD) funds linked to Rajya Sabha MP Ajit Kumar Bhuyan.

Departmental inquiries into the alleged irregularities found charges against Dutta to be substantiated in eight out of nine investigations conducted by the department.

The dismissal follows the findings of the departmental proceedings, which established his involvement in multiple instances of alleged financial and administrative irregularities in connection with the MP fund-related case.

The action against the ACS officer comes after departmental authorities examined the allegations through a series of inquiries.------------
