Gurugram, 18 September (H.S.): Kalyan Bainsla, one of the two accused arrested in connection with the alleged hit-and-run involving woman biker Shivani Chauhan, alias Sia, was sent to 14-day judicial custody by a Gurugram court on Friday.

The court has scheduled the next hearing for October 1. Bainsla and his cousin Lavneesh were produced before Civil Judge Nidhi Beniwal after their two-day police custody ended.

Bainsla, 33, and Lavneesh, 34, were arrested on Tuesday from Rajgarh in Rajasthan following a two-day search operation by Gurugram Police. Investigators are also examining the possible role of other people who were allegedly travelling in the car when the incident took place.

The incident occurred on Sunday on Gurugram's Golf Course Road. According to the allegations, a car hit Chauhan's motorcycle before leaving the spot. Video footage of the incident later circulated widely, prompting police to intensify their investigation.

Police have been examining CCTV footage, statements and other evidence to establish what happened before and after the collision. Investigators are also trying to determine the exact role of each person who was allegedly inside the vehicle.

Sia seeks action against other occupants

Chauhan has said that the arrest of Bainsla alone is not enough. She has alleged that two other people were present in the car and has demanded that they also be investigated and brought before the law if evidence establishes their involvement.

After recording her statement in court earlier this week, Chauhan said she believed the incident was an attempt on her life. She also criticised comments made by Bainsla's cousin Kamal, who had claimed that Bainsla was innocent and accused Chauhan of seeking public sympathy.

Chauhan rejected those allegations and said she would continue to pursue the case.

Police have added several serious provisions to the case, including a charge related to attempt to murder. Other allegations concerning rash driving, stalking and behaviour directed at a woman are also being investigated.

The investigation is continuing, while the October 1 hearing is expected to determine the next course of the legal proceedings.
