Lucknow, 18 Sept (HS): Numerous candidates submitted representations to the

Commission demanding revisions to the results of the Uttar Pradesh Teacher

Eligibility Test (UPTET) 2026. The Commission formed a six-member committee to

examine the candidates' representations and submit a factual report.

Dr. Prashant Kumar, Chairman of the Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection

Commission, stated that after examining all the representations received by the

Commission, the committee classified them into four major categories and

presented its report and conclusions to the Commission. After considering the

committee's report, the Commission has made decisions regarding each category.

The first category included representations regarding incorrect filling of the

roll number or question book number circles on the OMR answer sheet, or both.

While deciding on these representations, the Commission clarified that

candidates were informed of the entire process of filling and marking OMRs

through pre-examination advertisements, admit cards, OMR answer sheets, and

invigilators. Necessary precautions regarding correctly filling in the OMR roll

number and question book number were also clearly stated.

Candidates were also clearly instructed that if the OMR answer sheet does not

contain, or if the roll number or question booklet number is incorrectly

entered, the OMR will not be evaluated. Since the evaluation and score

processing process is fully automated, candidates are solely responsible for

this. The Commission, in light of the pre-examination instructions and the

decisions of various courts regarding OMR evaluation, found the relief sought

in this category untenable.

The Commission has also clarified its position on the representations regarding

normalization and answer keys. It was clarified in the pre-examination

advertisement that if the examination is held over more than one day or shift,

a normalization process will be implemented to allow for comparative evaluation

of candidates.

A scientific and software-based normalization process was adopted to generate

scores, taking into account potential differences in the difficulty level of

question papers across shifts. It is natural for some candidates to score lower

and others higher in this process. The Commission has found the demands for

changes to the scores obtained through the normalization process under

categories 2 and 3, or for revisions based on the answer key, unacceptable.

The Commission has decided to provide relief to successful candidates in the

fourth category on representations regarding errors in their certificates,

including name, father's/husband's name, date of birth, or class/category.

Online applications for certificate amendments from such candidates will soon

be received through the Commission's portal. Concerned candidates will be able to

apply online themselves, following the prescribed procedure, and will receive

their amended certificates after verification.

Dr. Prashant Kumar stated that the Commission examined all representations

received regarding the UPTET-2026 results through a committee and reached a

decision based on available facts, pre-exam instructions, and the prescribed

procedure. He appealed to candidates that if there are any errors in their

certificates related to name, father's/husband's name, date of birth, or

class/category, they should submit their applications within the stipulated

time after the online application process begins.
