Kolkata, 18 September (H.S.) : West Bengal Urban Development Minister Agnimitra Paul heaped praise on Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the occasion of his birthday, describing him as a leader, servant, and guardian of 1.4 billion Indians. Speaking at an event on Thursday night, she stated that the nation feels completely secure under his decisive leadership.

Paul emphasized that the Prime Minister's role transcends political office, likening his protective instinct toward citizens to that of parents shielding their children. Reflecting on his 25-year trajectory in public life as Chief Minister and Prime Minister, she noted his immense global influence and cross-generational appeal, pointing out that even many of his former critics have now aligned with the BJP.

Sharing personal anecdotes, the minister recalled her days in the state opposition when PM Modi would visit West Bengal and warmly greet her with a smile, acknowledging her grassroots political struggles against the ruling state government. She also recounted a period of prolonged illness last year, expressing deep gratitude that the Prime Minister remembered her name and inquired about her health. For him to remember my name and check on my well-being among 1.4 billion Indians is a massive honor for me, she said.

When asked by reporters about comparisons with historical titans like Emperor Ashoka or Chandragupta Maurya, Paul declined to draw direct parallels, stating instead that the current generation is fortunate to witness the Modi era firsthand. She also firmly rejected any comparisons with former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, asserting, Narendra Modi is Narendra Modi. He cannot be compared to anyone.

Dismissing the notion that the Prime Minister is competing to break the records of his predecessors, Paul noted that his persona transcends such metrics. She highlighted that his engagements with global leaders, such as the US President or the Australian Prime Minister, reflect deep-rooted, strong diplomatic ties rather than mere formal handshakes.

Paul concluded her address by wishing the Prime Minister a long, healthy, and secure life, underscoring that the nation continues to need his leadership for the foreseeable future.
