New Delhi, 18 September (H.S.): Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate an international conference on the theme “Future of Environment and Climate Dynamics” at Vigyan Bhavan on Saturday. The two-day conference is being organised by the National Green Tribunal (NGT) on September 19 and 20.

According to the Prime Minister’s Office, the conference will deliberate on key environmental and climate-related challenges and discuss measures to strengthen environmental governance. Judges of the Supreme Court of India and various High Courts, judges from district courts, secretaries and senior officials from different ministries, environmental experts and other stakeholders will participate in the conference.

The event will also witness the participation of eminent judges and judicial representatives from 17 countries. Representatives from State Judicial Academies, State Legal Services Authorities, State Expert Appraisal Committees (SEACs), State Environment Impact Assessment Authorities (SEIAAs) and State Wetland Authorities will also attend.

The conference will facilitate an exchange of judicial perspectives, scientific knowledge, environmental governance practices and institutional experiences among different countries and organisations. Participants will also discuss gaps in policymaking, implementation and enforcement, along with emerging environmental and climate-related challenges.

The conference aims to explore measures to make environmental governance more effective while strengthening cooperation and coordination among various institutions.
