Kochi, 18 September (H.S.):Strict traffic restrictions and security measures will be enforced across Kochi from 11 am to 4 pm today in connection with Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh's visit to the city.

The city police have imposed a complete ban on drone operations during the period. Commuters have been advised to use Kochi Metro services wherever possible to avoid traffic congestion and delays.

Traffic will be partially regulated along the Naval Base-Thevara-Atlantis-Ravipuram-Pallimukku-Jose Junction corridor and on BTH Road, Park Avenue Road, Shanmugham Road and Marine Drive.

Restrictions will also apply at High Court Junction, Banerji Road, Madhava Pharmacy, Kacheripady, Kaloor, Kaloor-Perandoor Road, Deshabhimani-Punnakkal Road, Edappally-Changampuzha Road, BTS Road, Edappally Madham Junction and the Aluva-Palarivattom PWD Road.

Motorists travelling from Aluva to Kaloor have been advised to proceed through Edappally, Palarivattom, Vyttila, SA Road, Kadavanthra and the Kaloor-Kathrikadavu Road. Vehicles from Aluva and Paravur heading towards the High Court should use Container Road.

Those travelling from Kakkanad to the High Court should take the Palarivattom-Edappally bypass and Edappally-Cheranalloor Road before entering Container Road.

Vehicles from Thoppumpady to Aluva should travel through the BOT Bridge, Alexander Parambithara Bridge, Kundannoor, Vyttila and Palarivattom. Motorists from Aluva to Fort Kochi should use NH 66 through Vyttila, Kundannoor and Thoppumpady.

Travellers from Vypeen and Bolgatty heading towards Kaloor or Aluva should use Container Road. Those proceeding from Vypeen to Thoppumpady have been advised to use the Fort Kochi-Vypeen ferry service.

Parking has been prohibited on major routes from Vathuruthy to Thevara, MG Road, Banerji Road, Kaloor Stadium and Palarivattom. Police warned that vehicles obstructing traffic would face action.
