New Delhi, 18 September (H.S.): India said on Friday that it was aware of media reports regarding the new Bangladesh government’s reported review of 101 agreements signed with India during the previous Awami League government, but Dhaka had not officially communicated anything to New Delhi on the matter.
Responding to a question during the Ministry of External Affairs’ biweekly media briefing, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said that India had also seen some media reports related to the matter, but nothing had been officially conveyed to India.
Jaiswal said, “Obviously, India will take all necessary actions to protect its interests.”
The remarks came amid reports that Bangladesh’s new government is reviewing 101 agreements and memorandums of understanding signed with India during the previous Awami League administration.
The reported review covers bilateral arrangements between the two neighbouring countries. India said it would take all necessary steps to safeguard its interests in the matter.
