New Delhi, 18 September (H.S.): The first phase of voting for the Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) elections has concluded. Reacting to the completion of polling, Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) national general secretary Virendra Singh Solanki claimed that the enthusiasm shown by students voting for ABVP since the morning indicated that the organisation was heading for a 4-0 victory in the election.

Solanki said the voting trends witnessed during the first phase suggested that ABVP was in a strong position and claimed that the organisation would achieve a clean sweep in this year’s DUSU elections.

He further alleged that members of the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI), seeing ABVP’s alleged lead during the first phase of polling, had become unsettled and were attempting to distribute fake voting slips. Solanki accused NSUI workers of allegedly trying to create disorder at some colleges, disturb the atmosphere and intimidate students.

Solanki said that no matter how hard NSUI tried, ABVP would secure a 4-0 victory in the election.

He also alleged that fear of defeat was driving NSUI members to threaten and intimidate students and ABVP workers.

Solanki said the hard work of ABVP workers had put the organisation in a position to secure a 4-0 result, claiming that students across Delhi University were continuing to vote for the ABVP. He also claimed that the organisation received strong support during the evening voting session and said this would contribute to its expected 4-0 victory.

The allegations made by Solanki regarding NSUI workers could not be independently verified.

The DUSU elections were held on September 18, while the counting of votes is scheduled for September 19.
