New Delhi, 18 September (H.S.): Amid the Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) elections, a rebel National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) independent candidate at Dayal Singh College has been accused of allegedly having fake pamphlets printed and distributed in the name of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP). The alleged pamphlets were reportedly intended to create confusion among students. Two people were detained on the college campus and handed over to the police, while one other person had reportedly been handed over to the police earlier in connection with the matter.

According to the allegations, pamphlets carrying the name of the rebel NSUI candidate contesting for the post of vice-president at Dayal Singh College were allegedly prepared in the name of ABVP. The candidate’s name was prominently displayed at the top of the purported pamphlets. The material was alleged to be in violation of election rules, with accusations that it was intended to create confusion among students regarding the candidate’s identity and affiliation.

Two people were reportedly caught while allegedly distributing the purportedly fake material on the college campus and were subsequently handed over to the police. In addition, one other person had reportedly been handed over to the police earlier in connection with the same matter.

Following the incident, questions have been raised on the college campus regarding election campaign material and its use during the polls. Police are questioning the individuals handed over to them and examining the material recovered in connection with the case.

The investigation will establish who allegedly arranged for the pamphlets to be printed and what the purpose behind their distribution was.
