New Delhi, 18 September (H.S.): The Foreigners Cell of the Delhi Police’s Outer District has detained two Bangladeshi nationals allegedly staying in the country without valid documents in the Paschim Vihar area. According to the police, the two were attempting to obtain visas for Greece and were looking for a place to stay in the area.

The detained individuals have been identified as Mohammad Tariq Ahmed, 28, and Russell Ahmed, 27, both residents of Sylhet, Bangladesh.

According to the police, the Foreigners Cell team was conducting regular verification drives in the area to identify foreign nationals allegedly residing in the country without valid documentation. During the operation, the police received information that two foreign nationals were looking for accommodation in Paschim Vihar and were preparing to travel to Greece.

When the police team cordoned off the area, the two suspects allegedly tried to flee in different directions after noticing the officers. The alert team chased them and detained both at the spot.

During questioning, the two were unable to produce any valid identity documents or travel papers. A detailed verification subsequently revealed that their passports and visas had already expired.

In coordination with the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO), the police have initiated the legal process for deporting the two individuals to their home country.

The police are now investigating when and through which route the two entered India and who they had been in contact with during their stay in the national capital.
