Guwahati, 18 September (HS): Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday recalled his old days of riding a Vespa scooter while extending Vishwakarma Puja greetings to the people of the state.

In a social media post, Sarma said the sacred occasion of Vishwakarma Puja brought back some “pure and golden memories” of the past. He recalled that earlier, Vishwakarma Puja meant decorating his trusted scooter with a garland and offering prayers to it.

The Chief Minister said his Vespa had been his sole support during many struggles and journeys. He fondly remembered the routine of slightly tilting the scooter when it failed to start, repeatedly using the kick-start and managing journeys according to the reserve fuel.

Sarma said many such old vehicles may still remain in the garages or memories of families, silently witnessing years of struggle and cherished moments.

He noted that modernisation has changed roads, vehicles and lifestyles, but the memories and emotions associated with those days continue to remain alive in a corner of his heart.

Extending greetings on Vishwakarma Puja, the Chief Minister prayed that with the blessings of Lord Vishwakarma, the deity of art, industry and construction, everyone’s working life would prosper.------------
