Silchar (Assam), 18 September (HS): Cachar Police recovered 70,000 suspected Yaba tablets during an anti-narcotics operation in the Silchar Bypass area under Silchar Police Station, officials said on Friday.

Acting on specific source input, police intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number AS-11-W-5020 and conducted a search. During the operation, the suspected Yaba tablets were recovered from the vehicle.

Police apprehended Tahir Hussain (34), son of Late Siraj Uddin and a resident of Tapadar Para, Patharkandi, Sribhumi district, in connection with the seizure.

Legal action has been initiated in the matter, while further investigation is underway to trace the forward and backward linkages of the suspected drug network.------------
