
North 24 Parganas, 17 September (H.S.): A youth was arrested by the Swarupnagar police in connection with an alleged incident of misbehaviour and use of obscene language against minor girls at a football match in the Bithari Hakimpur area, police said.
The incident reportedly took place a few days ago when several minor girls had gone to watch a football match in the area. According to a complaint lodged by the girls' guardians, some persons allegedly misbehaved with the minors and used abusive and obscene language towards them.
Following the complaint, the accused allegedly left the area and went into hiding. Police subsequently launched a search to trace those named in the complaint.
Acting on a tip-off, Swarupnagar police learnt that some of the accused had returned to their homes. A police team then conducted a raid and arrested one of the accused youths from his residence. However, the other accused persons allegedly managed to flee.
The arrested youth was produced before the Basirhat subdivision court on Thursday.
Police have launched a search for the other accused persons allegedly involved in the incident, officials said. The allegations are under investigation.
