New Delhi, 17 September (H.S.): President Droupadi Murmu and Vice-President C. P. Radhakrishnan on Thursday extended their heartfelt birthday greetings to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and wished him a healthy, happy and long life. Both referred to the progress being made in the country’s development journey under the Prime Minister’s leadership and towards the goal of a ‘Viksit Bharat’.

In a message posted on social media platform X, President Murmu conveyed her best wishes to the Prime Minister and highlighted his 25 years of public service, spanning his tenure as Chief Minister of Gujarat to his service as the Prime Minister of the country. She said that the Prime Minister had established new benchmarks in good governance and given fresh momentum and direction to inclusive development. The President also referred to the harmony being fostered under his leadership between India’s cultural heritage and modern development.

Vice-President C. P. Radhakrishnan, in his message, extended his warm birthday greetings to the Prime Minister and said that under his firm and visionary leadership, India was emerging as a bright centre on the global stage and was among the fastest-growing major economies in the world.

The Vice-President said that more than 25 crore Indians had been lifted out of extreme poverty. He noted that the digital revolution had empowered millions of people and that significant progress had been made across various sectors, including space, technology, healthcare, infrastructure and manufacturing.

He said that the renaming and conceptualisation of backward districts as ‘Aspirational Districts’, border villages as ‘Vibrant and First Villages’, and the Northeast as ‘Ashtalakshmi’ reflected the Prime Minister’s visionary approach. According to him, these initiatives had helped empower geographically marginalised regions and encouraged the active participation of people from different parts of the country in India’s development journey.

Radhakrishnan said that during his visits to states and Union Territories over the past year, he had personally witnessed these changes reaching the country’s remote regions. He said that a sense of progress, aspiration and renewed enthusiasm across the country reflected the people’s confidence in the collective journey of development.

The Vice-President wished the Prime Minister good health, happiness and continued strength, and expressed the hope that he would continue to lead the motherland towards the realisation of the goal of a developed India by 2047.
