Kolkata, 17 September (H.S.): The Institute of Exploration is organising a special river raft expedition titled “Voyage of the Nectar Stream” with the objective of spreading public awareness about making the Ganga pollution-free. The main message of the expedition is “Restore the pollution-free nectar flow of the holy Ganga.”

According to the institute, the expedition began from Haridwar in Uttarakhand and is proceeding along the Ganga river route to Kolkata in West Bengal. The expedition started on September 4 and will continue until October 6.

A special feature of this daring expedition is that it will use rafts made from air-filled rubber tubes obtained from bus and truck wheels, along with bamboo. The institute claims that it is the first and only team in India to undertake such a long and challenging journey on the Ganga using such rudimentary rafts.

The institute said that considerable expenditure would be involved in completing the expedition. It has appealed to its members, well-wishers and others for financial support.

The institute's Honorary General Secretary, M. Nabi Tarafdar, and Honorary Treasurer, Ardhendu Sekhar Naskar, have appealed to people to extend their support, along with their best wishes, for the successful completion of the expedition. They said the initiative aims to create widespread public awareness about keeping the Ganga clean and to add a new chapter to the field of adventurous expeditions in India.
