
Guwahati, 17 September (HS): The Assam Pradesh Bharatiya Janata Party will organise blood donation camps across all 39 organisational districts of the state on September 19 to pay tribute to singer and cultural icon Zubeen Garg, whose first death anniversary falls on the day.
BJP spokesperson Kamal Kumar Medhi said the programme is being organised under the initiative of the Assam Pradesh Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha. The day’s programme will begin with floral tributes to Zubeen Garg’s portrait, followed by blood donation drives at designated locations.
According to the party, BJP workers and office-bearers from different levels will participate in the initiative as a tribute to the late artiste and his contribution to Assam’s cultural landscape.
Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma and Assam Pradesh BJP president Dilip Saikia are scheduled to donate blood at the camp to be held at the party’s state headquarters, Atal Bihari Vajpayee Bhawan, in Guwahati.
The State Yuva Morcha said preparations for the programme have been completed across all designated locations in Assam.---------------
