New Delhi, 17 September (H.S.):

Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Bhupender Yadav met Finland’s Minister of Climate and the Environment Sari Multala on Thursday. During the meeting, the two sides discussed further strengthening cooperation between India and Finland in the areas of biodiversity conservation and sustainable development.

Following the meeting, Bhupender Yadav said in a post on X that India and Finland had discussed ways to further deepen cooperation in the areas of the circular economy, climate action, biodiversity conservation and sustainable development. These issues were deliberated upon during a bilateral meeting with Finnish Minister of Climate and the Environment Sari Multala in New Delhi.

The meeting also covered the key outcomes of the recently concluded World Circular Economy Forum. The two sides further discussed ways to advance the India-Finland partnership in the field of the circular economy.

The two sides also exchanged views on issues related to the upcoming United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) COP31 and the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) COP16. In addition, discussions were held on matters of mutual interest under the Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee on Plastic Pollution.

During the meeting, India and Finland reiterated their commitment to further deepening mutual cooperation in the areas of climate action, the circular use of resources, biodiversity conservation and sustainable development.
