Varanasi, 17 Sept (HS): Artificial Intelligence (AI) is

gradually becoming an important part of the medical field. Even in complex

treatments such as heart surgery, AI can help doctors understand a patient’s

condition more accurately, plan surgery and analyse important information

during treatment. However, AI does not replace doctors; rather, it works as a

supportive tool that strengthens their expertise and decision-making.

Dr. Rajneesh Malhotra, Chairman and Head, CTVS Department,

Max Super Speciality Hospital, Saket, said, “Every patient’s heart and medical

condition is different. With the help of AI, images from tests such as CT

scans, MRI and echocardiography can be analysed in greater detail. This can

help doctors better understand the condition of the heart and blood vessels

before surgery and plan the procedure more precisely.”

He explained that during surgery, AI can also help analyse

information from different monitors and tests quickly. This can assist doctors

in keeping track of important changes and making decisions when required. In

addition, AI can analyse a patient’s medical history and test reports to help

identify certain potential risks.

AI is a technology, not a substitute for a doctor. Its

usefulness depends on the quality of data, appropriate medical investigations

and expert supervision. In the future, the combination of AI and medical

expertise could help make heart surgery more precise, safer and more

personalised according to each patient’s needs.
