Smart classes will be established in phased manner with sanctioned

amount of Rs 300 cr, students will get benefit of modern and technical

education

Lucknow, 16 Sept (HS): A cabinet meeting chaired by Chief

Minister Yogi Adityanath, held in Lok Bhavan, Lucknow, approved a significant

proposal to integrate basic education with modern technology and develop

council schools into smart schools. This decision by the Yogi government will

provide students in thousands of council primary schools across the state with

the benefits of digital and technical education alongside the traditional

education system.

State Minister of State for Basic Education (Independent

Charge) Sandeep Singh stated that council primary schools under the control of

the Basic Education Council will be developed as smart schools. A

total of Rs 300 crore has been approved for this purpose. With this funding,

the target has been set to develop approximately 14,429 council primary schools

into smart schools.

He informed that under the Government of India's Samagra

Shiksha Abhiyan, smart classes and ICT labs are being established in a phased

manner in council upper primary schools (grades 6 to 8) under the Digital

Initiative Program. Continuing this trend, it has been decided to develop

council primary schools in Uttar Pradesh as smart schools.

He said that the Yogi government is placing special emphasis

on the effective use of technology in the education system to provide quality

and modern education to the children of the state. By establishing smart

classes and ICT labs alongside the traditional teaching system in council

primary schools, students will benefit from the latest technological education

and their learning process will be made more effective, interesting, and

modern.

Additional Chief Secretary Basic and Secondary Education

Partha Sarathi Sen Sharma informed that Sritran India Limited has been

designated as the implementing agency for the implementation of the Smart

School Project. A rate of Rs 2,07,910 per school has been fixed for setting up

smart classes in approximately 14,429 primary schools, which includes centage

charges and GST. The work of setting up smart classes will be done through

competitive tendering as per rules. If the tender process yields a rate lower

than the prescribed rate per school, the number of primary schools to be

developed as smart schools will be further increased against the total amount

of Rs 300 crore approved.
