Tirumala, 16 September (H.S.): Reliance Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Reliance Industries Limited, has handed over a fleet of 25 electric buses and a dedicated electric vehicle charging station to Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), strengthening the temple administration’s efforts towards cleaner and sustainable pilgrim transport.

The buses were formally flagged off by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu at an event in Tirumala.

The initiative comes ahead of the two Srivari Brahmotsavams, which are expected to attract a large number of devotees to the hill shrine. The contribution fulfils a commitment made by Anant Ambani, Executive Director, Reliance Industries Limited, during his visit to Tirumala in June 2026 to provide 25 electric buses to TTD.

Reliance Foundation and TTD have jointly worked on developing the charging facilities and other infrastructure required for operating the electric bus fleet.

The addition of the buses is expected to support TTD’s ongoing green mobility initiatives and provide an alternative to conventional fuel-powered vehicles for pilgrims visiting Tirumala.

The electric mobility initiative is a joint effort involving Reliance Foundation and Jio-bp. While Reliance Foundation provided philanthropic support, Jio-bp contributed expertise in electric mobility and electric vehicle charging infrastructure.

Anant Ambani said the buses were a contribution towards TTD’s efforts to make pilgrim travel more comfortable while supporting environmental sustainability and safeguarding the biodiversity of the Tirumala region.

The initiative is part of Reliance’s broader focus on sustainable development and cleaner mobility solutions.
