Bhubaneswar, 16 September (H.S.): The Ravenshaw University Development Trust has been formed with the objective of promoting the all-round development of Ravenshaw University while keeping it away from narrow political interests.

The decision was taken at a meeting of prominent citizens and distinguished personalities held on Wednesday at the premises of Sri Sri Maa Gadachandi Temple in Cuttack.

Senior educationist Professor Dinesh Prasad Pattnaik has been nominated as president of the trust, while young social worker Deepak Kumar Mahanta has been appointed secretary.

In a press release, Mahanta said the trust would work to oppose external interference in the administration and functioning of Ravenshaw University and protect the institution’s dignity and reputation.

He said the trust would focus on strengthening the university’s academic and institutional development and safeguarding its interests, while remaining above narrow political considerations.
