Kolkata, 16 September (H.S.): Several parts of West Bengal are likely to receive rain and thundershowers on Wednesday as weather conditions remain changeable across the state, according to the weather department's forecast.

In South Bengal, skies are expected to remain partly to generally cloudy, with light to moderate rain likely at isolated places. Kolkata may also receive light rainfall during the day.

Rain activity is expected to be relatively more pronounced in North Bengal. Several areas of Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri, Kalimpong, Alipurduar and Cooch Behar may continue to experience spells of rain. Rainfall in the hilly areas could lead to localised disruptions.

In South Bengal, isolated light rain and thundershowers are likely in Kolkata, Howrah, Hooghly, North and South 24 Parganas, East and West Midnapore, Jhargram, Bankura, Purulia, East and West Burdwan, Nadia, Murshidabad and Birbhum.

In Kolkata, the minimum temperature on Wednesday is likely to remain around 26–28 degrees Celsius, while the maximum temperature may hover around 35–36 degrees Celsius. High humidity is expected to add to the discomfort and make conditions feel more sultry.

The weather department has forecast continued spells of rain and thunderstorms in several parts of the state over the next few days. Some areas may experience thunderstorms accompanied by strong winds on September 17 and 18.
