New Delhi, 16 September (H.S.): The National Green Tribunal (NGT) will organise a two-day international conference on September 19 and 20 at Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi on the theme ‘The Future of Environmental and Climate Dynamics’. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the conference, while President Droupadi Murmu will attend the concluding session as the chief guest.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the NGT said the conference will be attended by several prominent personalities, including Chief Justice of India Justice Surya Kant, Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav, Housing and Urban Affairs and Power Minister Manohar Lal, Supreme Court Justice B.V. Nagarathna, Attorney General R. Venkataramani, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta and NGT Chairperson Justice Prakash Srivastava.

Judges and judicial representatives from 17 countries, in addition to India, will participate in the conference. Environmental experts, judges of the Supreme Court and High Courts, district court judges, senior government officials and representatives of various organisations working in the environmental sector will also take part.

The conference will deliberate on challenges related to the environment and climate. Approaches adopted by different countries for environmental protection, judicial experiences and scientific knowledge will be shared and discussed.

The conference aims to identify gaps and shortcomings in the implementation of environmental regulations and policies, share successful practices and strengthen cooperation among various institutions. It will also provide a platform to discuss ways to achieve better coordination between environmental protection, development and justice.
