Nagaon (Assam), 16 September (HS): BJP candidate Debashis Sharma on Wednesday filed his nomination papers for the Nagaon Lok Sabha by-election amid a massive show of support from party workers and supporters.

A large BJP rally was taken out in Nagaon as Sharma proceeded to submit his nomination papers. He was accompanied by thousands of supporters during the nomination process.

State ministers Pijush Hazarika and Keshab Mahanta, along with Assam BJP president Dilip Saikia and several party functionaries, were present with Sharma when he filed his nomination.

Meanwhile, Congress candidate Shivamoni Bora also submitted her nomination papers for the Nagaon Lok Sabha by-election on Wednesday.

AIUDF chief and candidate Badruddin Ajmal also filed his nomination papers for the bypoll, setting the stage for a three-cornered contest involving the BJP, Congress and AIUDF.

Trinamol Congress candidate MLA Sherman Ali Ahmed has also find the nomination papers before the district commissioner of the Nagaon district.------------
