Mumbai, 16 September (H.S.): Maharashtra is developing the Maharashtra Impact and Innovation Hub, a state-scale platform aimed at strengthening health innovation and quality improvement while supporting the state government’s “Health for All” mission.

The Hub is envisaged as a collaborative platform that will identify local health priorities, work with communities to develop solutions and test new approaches within real-world health systems.

The initiative will bring together government, healthcare providers, the private sector, academia, innovators and development partners. It will complement existing health systems and care pathways while exploring the use of innovation and technology, including artificial intelligence, digital health, data and precision health.

A key focus of the Hub will be to connect the capabilities of the private healthcare sector with public health priorities. The initiative will seek to develop solutions that are practical, affordable, accessible and responsive to local requirements, with the potential for replication across Maharashtra and beyond.

The platform will also explore opportunities for local skilling, employment and enterprise development linked to community health needs.

The initiative aims to support the development and scaling up of health solutions that can improve the quality and equity of healthcare services across the state, particularly for communities that are difficult to reach.

The Hub is also envisaged as a platform for evidence generation and collaboration, with community needs and local ownership at the centre of its approach. It will seek to strengthen links between innovation, health systems and healthcare providers.

An early example of this approach is Manyata, the flagship initiative of the Federation of Obstetrics & Gynaecological Societies of India, which complements government efforts to strengthen maternal healthcare and demonstrates how quality improvement initiatives in the private sector can work alongside public health systems.

The initiative is being supported by MSD for Mothers, which is convening a consortium of grantees and collaborators for development of the collaborative model.
