
New Delhi, 16 September (H.S.): Dileep Sanghani, Chairman of the Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Limited (IFFCO), has been elected as a Director-at-Large to the Global Board of the International Cooperative Alliance (ICA). The election was held during the ICA General Assembly in Panama City.
According to information released by IFFCO, Sanghani secured the third position in the election, earning a place on the Global Board. His election is being regarded as a significant achievement for the Indian cooperative movement on the global stage.
As soon as Sanghani’s election was announced, members of the Indian cooperative delegation present in Panama raised slogans of “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” and “Vande Mataram”. IFFCO said the development reflects the growing global recognition and influence of the Indian cooperative movement.
Sanghani has been associated with the cooperative sector for several decades and has worked towards the empowerment of farmers, the rural economy and cooperative institutions. He currently serves as Chairman of IFFCO and the Gujarat State Cooperative Marketing Federation (GUJCOMASOL) and has held various responsibilities in national and international cooperative organisations.
The International Cooperative Alliance is the world’s leading global cooperative organisation, representing cooperative enterprises and institutions from various countries. According to IFFCO, India’s participation on the ICA Global Board will further strengthen the voice of the Indian cooperative movement at the international level.
Expressing gratitude for his election, Sanghani thanked the ICA member countries, delegates and the global cooperative community. He said he would work to effectively present the experience and perspectives of India’s cooperative movement on the global platform and contribute towards strengthening international cooperation.
