Nagaon (Assam), 16 September (HS): All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) chief Badruddin Ajmal on Wednesday alleged that the BJP and Congress are effectively “one team” in the Nagaon Lok Sabha by-election. Speaking before filing his nomination papers, Ajmal claimed that Congress candidate Shivamoni Bora was a candidate of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

Ajmal said the Nagaon by-election would present challenges, but asserted that he would campaign extensively and seek votes by reaching out to people from house to house. He also sought the support of Raijor Dal leader Akhil Gogoi in the election.

The Nagaon Lok Sabha seat fell vacant following the resignation of Pradyut Bordoloi. The by-election is scheduled to be held on October 6, with counting of votes on October 9.-----------
