New Delhi, September 15 (H.S.). The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research–National Institute of Science Communication and Policy Research (CSIR-NIScPR) has begun using Saral AI to make scientific research accessible to the general public in a simple and engaging manner. Under the initiative, the institute will present research published in its scientific journals in video format.

According to the Ministry of Science and Technology, the initiative is a step towards strengthening science communication through emerging technologies. Saral AI is an initiative of the Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF) that enables research papers to be converted into engaging and easy-to-understand videos.

Under the leadership of CSIR-NIScPR Director Dr. Geeta Vani Raisam, the institute is expanding its use of new technologies and digital platforms for science communication. As part of this effort, a workshop on Saral AI was recently organised, which was attended by more than 90 participants, including researchers and editors.

Dr. Geeta Vani Raisam said the significance of scientific knowledge increases when it reaches people beyond the research community as well. She said efforts were being made to take Indian research to a wider audience through technologies such as Saral AI.

The ministry said that Dr. Shivkumar Kalyanraman, Chief Executive Officer of the ANRF, had also encouraged the institute to expand its use of Saral AI to make complex scientific research accessible to the general public in a simplified form.

The initiative aims particularly to make scientific research easier for students and the general public to understand, discover and share. The videos created under the initiative are being made available through YouTube playlists, enabling scientific information to reach people through digital platforms in addition to research papers.
