New Delhi, September 15 (H.S.): The Supreme Court has deferred by four weeks the hearing on the bail plea of suspended Punjab Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Harcharan Singh Bhullar. A bench headed by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant made a strong observation, describing the petition as a case of “100 per cent dismissal” and indicating that the bail plea could be considered after the statements of key witnesses have been recorded.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested Bhullar in October 2025 in connection with a corruption case. During the hearing, the court asked the counsel appearing for Bhullar whether he wanted the plea to be dismissed immediately or at a later stage. The counsel submitted that the complainant and some key witnesses had not yet been examined, while statements of certain other witnesses had already been recorded.

Earlier, Bhullar had filed a bail plea before the Punjab and Haryana High Court. The High Court dismissed his bail application on August 10. Bhullar subsequently challenged the High Court’s order before the Supreme Court.
