Bhubaneswar, 15 September (H.S.): Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi is likely to visit Odisha in October to attend the Congress’ proposed ‘Chhatra Ki Gunj’ programme in Bhubaneswar, Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee president Bhakta Charan Das said on Tuesday.
Das said the state unit has sent a proposal regarding Gandhi’s visit and expressed confidence that he would attend the event, which is expected to bring together around 20,000 youths. The programme will focus on issues and concerns affecting the Gen-Z population, he said.
With the Panchayat elections in view, the PCC president said the Congress would organise a series of extensive programmes across Odisha to strengthen its grassroots organisation and connect with voters.
He said the party would launch a padayatra from Nabarangpur on October 2, with Congress workers participating in the campaign. Committees will oversee and monitor the padayatras, he added.
Das further said Rahul Gandhi, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and the Karnataka Chief Minister are expected to visit Odisha between January and February as part of the party’s wider campaign strategy.
He added that a major programme is proposed in Bhubaneswar in October, where youth-related issues will be discussed in detail.
