New Delhi, 15 September (H.S.): Global markets are showing signs of weakness today. US markets closed lower in the previous session, while Dow Jones futures are also trading on a weak note today. European markets witnessed mixed trading in the previous session, while Asian markets are also showing a downward trend today.

Ahead of the US Federal Reserve’s meeting, nervousness prevailed during the previous session. Concerns over a possible increase in interest rates weighed on sentiment, sending major US market indices lower. The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 0.30 percent lower. Similarly, the S&P 500 Index fell 0.48 percent to end the previous session at 7,619.98 points. The Nasdaq also declined by 146.62 points, or 0.56 percent, to close at 26,186.41 points. Meanwhile, Dow Jones futures are currently trading 166.20 points, or 0.32 percent, lower at 52,255 points.

European markets ended the previous session on a mixed note. The FTSE Index gained 0.44 percent to close at 10,697.57 points. In contrast, the CAC Index declined 0.76 percent to finish at 8,117.78 points. Similarly, the DAX Index fell 127.75 points, or 0.50 percent, to end the previous session at 25,440.81 points.

Asian markets are also broadly witnessing selling pressure today. Of the nine major Asian markets, eight indices are trading in negative territory, while only one index remains in the green. The Straits Times Index is the only benchmark showing gains, currently trading marginally higher by 0.04 percent at 5,659.85 points.

Meanwhile, GIFT Nifty has declined 0.27 percent to 23,379.50 points. The Taiwan Weighted Index has also fallen 123.32 points, or 0.27 percent, to 45,739.20 points. The Jakarta Composite Index has come under significant pressure, currently trading 0.96 percent lower at 6,472.27 points.

Similarly, the KOSPI Index has declined 0.92 percent to 6,623.04 points. The SET Composite Index is down 0.53 percent at 1,582.63 points, while the Hang Seng Index has slipped 0.32 percent to 24,837 points. The Shanghai Composite Index has fallen 0.10 percent to 3,881.41 points, and the Nikkei Index is trading 0.10 percent lower at 63,429 points.
