Chief Minister Dr. Yadav Pays Floral Tribute to Sir M. Visvesvaraya

Bhopal , 15 September (H.S.): Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said that the country’s glorious ancient architectural heritage continues to inspire new experiments with technology. Engineers turn development possibilities into reality through their talent, technical knowledge and innovation. New road construction not only improves connectivity but also opens new avenues for economic and social development. Every project and design conceived by engineers carries a vision for shaping the state’s future economic landscape.

Sir M. Visvesvaraya, with his foresight, technical expertise and spirit of national service, undertook pioneering work in water management, irrigation, industrial development and institutional construction, the benefits of which continue to serve the country even today. His life is a testimony to the fact that the vision and determination of one individual can give a new direction to the development of an entire nation.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav extended greetings and best wishes to all engineers of the state on the birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya, the great civil engineer. He was addressing the Engineers’ Day celebration organised at the Kushabhau Thakre International Convention Centre in Bhopal on Monday. CHIEF MINISTER Dr. Yadav inaugurated the state-level function by lighting the ceremonial lamp. The programme commenced with a collective rendition of Vande Mataram. He also paid floral tribute to the portrait of Sir Visvesvaraya.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav Releases Compendium of PWD Circulars

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav honoured outstanding engineers, officers, joint teams and construction agencies with awards in five categories for their exemplary work. The Public Works Department and CSIR-AMPRI, Bhopal, also exchanged an MoU for sustainable infrastructure development. The Chief Minister also released a compendium containing the Public Works Department’s circulars issued over the past 10 years.

India’s Architectural Tradition Has Been Rich Since Ancient Times

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that engineers bring together available resources, knowledge and expertise to maximise their potential. By harmonising the five elements of nature with modern technology, they create durable structures that serve society for generations. India’s architectural tradition has been rich since ancient times. The Kailash Temple at Ellora, Dharmarajeshwar Temple in Mandsaur, ancient water structures and exquisite sculptures stand as enduring testaments to the extraordinary technical expertise of the engineers and artisans of that era. The State’s rich architectural heritage has also inspired the design of democratic institutions across the country. This glorious legacy continues to inspire today’s engineers to undertake new experiments with modern technology.

Innovative Initiative to Name Awards after Great Personalities

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav congratulated the Public Works Department for its innovative initiative to institute awards for engineers in five categories. He said that through the Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya Award, Vishwakarma Award, Vikramaditya Award, Rani Durgavati Environment-Friendly Award and Raja Bhoj Award, the department has connected the contributions of India’s historic personalities with the modern construction system. The Chief Minister said, “These awards would encourage engineers’ commitment to construction quality, technological innovation, good governance, environmental protection and public welfare.” Honouring senior and retired engineers reflects the department’s respect for its glorious tradition and acknowledges their long-standing contributions.

Government Stands with Engineers Who Innovate

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav appreciated experiments involving environment-friendly construction materials and modern technologies, including cement-free concrete. He said that by adopting new technologies, research and an innovation, the Public Works Department is establishing itself among the leading departments in the country. He said that the department’s achievements are the result of the hard work and commitment of the entire team. The Chief Minister said that, by encouraging engineers, they should innovate fearlessly in the public interest and assured them that the state government stands with them in every positive initiative. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, India’s confidence and global standing have been rising continuously. Engineers have a crucial role to play in realising the vision of a Developed India and a Developed Madhya Pradesh.

Research, Discipline and Perfection Should Become PWD’s Work Culture: Minister Shri Singh

Public Works Minister Shri Rakesh Singh said that Chief Minister Dr. Yadav has given new momentum, direction and a distinct identity to Madhya Pradesh’s development. Engineers are not merely government employees but the builders of Madhya Pradesh’s development journey.

The ultimate objective of every work undertaken by the Public Works Department should be “Lok Nirman Se Lok Kalyan”—public welfare through public construction. He said, “Construction is our responsibility, public welfare is our goal, quality is our identity, innovation is our strength, technology is our future, and a developed Madhya Pradesh is our resolve.” The Chief Minister said that annual awards were introduced in the Public Works Department to encourage healthy competition. With the support of expert institutions, including the Bhaskaracharya Institute, the department has developed several digital solutions.

Innovations Initiated by the Department Adopted by Other States

Several innovations initiated in Madhya Pradesh have also been adopted by other states. In just nine months, more than 85 per cent of the department’s engineers were provided training at four leading engineering training institutions in the country. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav has announced the Engineering Training and Research Institute, for which the framework has been prepared. The institute will be developed as a major centre for engineering research, innovation and training in Madhya Pradesh.

The MoU between the Public Works Department and CSIR-AMPRI will provide access to technology for constructing concrete roads without cement. Government buildings coming up in Madhya Pradesh will now be constructed using green building technology.

The Public Works Department has transformed its image through its working methods, while the Madhya Pradesh Road Development Corporation is set to undertake works worth approximately ₹2 lakh crore over the next year.

Accidents at Black Spots Have Declined

Principal Secretary, Public Works Department, Shri Sukhveer Singh said that roads play an important role in connecting farmers with markets, youth with schools and women with employment opportunities. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Yadav, the government is giving top priority to infrastructure development. A comprehensive roadmap for infrastructure development in Madhya Pradesh has been prepared in line with Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision of a Developed India. Expert recommendations on road safety and modern construction practices are being incorporated into road projects. Over the past nine months, accidents at identified black spots have declined.

Chief Engineer, Public Works Department, Bhopal Region, Shri R.L. Verma, gave an overview of the life of Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya. He also expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Dr. Yadav for facilitating the promotions of officers and employees of the Public Works Department.

Outstanding Engineers and Construction Agencies Honoured on Engineers’ Day

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav honoured officers, engineers, joint teams and construction agencies for outstanding work in infrastructure development, particularly in quality, timely completion, technological innovation and environmental protection.

The Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya Award was presented to Shri Ishwar Singh Chandele, Divisional Manager, Madhya Pradesh Road Development Corporation, Bhopal; Shri Manvendra Singh Sengar, Deputy General Manager, Madhya Pradesh Building Development Corporation, Jabalpur; Shri Manish Kumar Sharma, Executive Engineer (Buildings), Public Works Department, Jabalpur; and Shri H.N. Tripathi, In-charge Sub-Divisional Officer, PWD Maintenance Division No. 2, Bhopal.

The Vishwakarma Award was presented to M/s VVCHIEF MINISTER KS Project Private Limited, M/s Agarwal Construction Works, M/s Apex Structure Private Limited and M/s Gaur Road Tarcot Private Limited, Jabalpur.

The Vikramaditya Award was presented to the joint team of the Madhya Pradesh Road Development Corporation, Gwalior, comprising Divisional Manager Shri Rajesh Dayma, Divisional Manager Smt. Harshita Varshney, Deputy General Manager Shri Shashank Sharma and Manager Shri Deepak Namdev.

In the same category, the joint team of the Public Works Department, Sagar Division, comprising Executive Engineer Shri Sahitya Tiwari and Sub-Engineer Shri Anil Srivastava, was also honoured.

The Rani Durgavati Environment-Friendly Award was presented to Shri Pushkal Pratap, Executive Engineer, Public Works Department, Sheopur.

The Raja Bhoj Award was presented to the joint team of the Madhya Pradesh Building Development Corporation comprising then Deputy General Manager Shri Mohan Kishore Parmar and Manager Shri Mahendra Doliya.

The joint team of the Public Works Department was also honoured with the Raja Bhoj Award. The team comprised Executive Engineer Shivendra Singh, Executive Engineer Hridesh Arya and Sub-Engineer Ramsingh Raghuvanshi.Managing Director, Madhya Pradesh Road Development Corporation, Bharat Yadav; Managing Director, Madhya Pradesh Building Development Corporation, Sibi Chakravarthy M.; Director, CSIR-AMPRI, Dr. Thallada Bhaskar; senior departmental officials, engineers, retired engineers, representatives of construction agencies and other dignitaries were present at the programme.
