Special Campaign-6 to Target Pending Cases, File Disposal and Scrap Clearance in Government Offices; Portal to Be Launched Tomorrow


New Delhi, 15 September (H.S.): Special Campaign-6 will begin across government offices nationwide from September 16 to improve cleanliness, reduce pendency, facilitate the disposal of files and clear obsolete and unusable materials. Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh will launch a web portal on Wednesday to monitor the campaign.

According to the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, the preparatory phase of Special Campaign-6 will be conducted from September 16 to 30, while the implementation phase will run from October 2 to 31. This year, the campaign will place particular emphasis on the effective collection, segregation and disposal of e-waste. The campaign aims to institutionalise cleanliness in government offices and reduce pending work.

The ministry said that the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG) has been conducting the campaign since 2021. During the previous five special campaigns, more than 24.20 lakh sites were covered across the country, over 180.48 lakh files were disposed of, and more than Rs. 5,102.91 crore was generated through the disposal of scrap.

During Special Campaign-5 alone, 11.6 lakh sites were covered, 29.52 lakh files were disposed of, 233.75 lakh square feet of office space was freed up, and Rs. 833.92 crore was generated through scrap disposal.

According to the ministry, Special Campaign-6 will be conducted across all ministries and departments, their attached offices, autonomous bodies, field offices and Indian missions abroad. The campaign will also promote citizen-centric work practices, inclusivity and improved office management.
