Guwahati, 15 September (HS): BJP MLA Bhupen Bora has predicted that senior Congress leader Rakibul Hussain could work against the party in the upcoming Nagaon Lok Sabha by-election, alleging that he may seek to embarrass Assam Congress president Gaurav Gogoi. Bora claimed that even if the Congress central leadership “cuts Rakibul Hussain’s wings” after the Assembly elections, he would still be prepared to undermine the party’s prospects in the bypoll.
Reacting to the reported differences within the Congress over the selection of its candidate, Bora said Rakibul Hussain was likely to “dig the ground” for the party’s defeat in the Nagaon by-election. He alleged that the developments reflected an internal power struggle within the state Congress and predicted that the rivalry could affect the party’s electoral campaign.
Bora said the Congress would have to face the consequences of its internal differences during the by-election.-----------
