New Delhi, 15 September (H.S.): The Delhi unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has issued show-cause notices to Mundka MLA Gajendra Daral and the aggrieved Kanjhawala Mandal president in connection with the alleged assault of BJP Mandal president Sunil Kumar in Kanjhawala, northwest Delhi. Sunil Kumar has levelled serious allegations against MLA Gajendra Daral and others, claiming that he was called to an office on the pretext of attending a meeting and brutally assaulted.

Delhi BJP president Harsh Malhotra said on Tuesday that the state leadership had received information about the incident in the Northwest Delhi parliamentary constituency. Taking the matter seriously, the state leadership held discussions with the area MP and the district president. Subsequently, letters were issued to the concerned MLA and the Mandal president, directing both to submit their explanations before the Delhi BJP Disciplinary Committee by 3 p.m. on September 16. He said the matter had been referred to the Delhi BJP Disciplinary Committee and further action would be taken on the basis of the committee’s report.

The Delhi BJP president also said that either party was free to seek police or legal action in the matter. Any disciplinary action at the party level would be taken on the basis of the Disciplinary Committee’s report.

In this connection, Delhi BJP general secretary Vishnu Mittal has issued notices to the MLA and the Mandal president. Both leaders have been asked to appear before the state Disciplinary Committee by September 16 or submit their explanations in writing.
