Guwahati, 15 September (HS): The Assam Pradesh Congress Committee on Tuesday observed the 42nd foundation day of the All India Mahila Congress at Rajiv Bhawan in Guwahati. The foundation day was also celebrated across various districts of the state with the participation of Congress women workers and leaders.

Assam Congress president Gaurav Gogoi extended his greetings to all women on the occasion and congratulated them for their contribution to the party and public life.

Former MP Abdul Khaleque, MLA Baby Begum, media chairman Bedabrata Bora, senior leaders Balika Lahan Pegu and Moinajan Begum and Zilla Parishad member Muniyaara Begum were among those present at the programme.

Several senior women leaders and party workers also attended the foundation day programme and highlighted the role of women in strengthening the Congress organisation at the grassroots level.-----------
