Guwahati, 15 September (HS): All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) leader Badruddin Ajmal is likely to be the party’s candidate for the Nagaon Lok Sabha by-election, according to party leader Rejaul Karim Sarkar.

Sarkar, who is understood to be the party’s second choice for the Nagaon seat, said he would prefer party president Badruddin Ajmal to contest the election if the objective is to ensure victory for AIUDF in Nagaon.

“From the perspective of winning the election in Nagaon, I want our president Badruddin Ajmal to contest,” Sarkar said.

The development comes amid preparations by political parties for the Nagaon Lok Sabha by-election, where the contest is expected to witness a keen battle. AIUDF’s final candidate decision is likely to be closely watched as the party weighs its options ahead of the polls.-----------
