Jorhat (Assam), 14 September (HS): A group of thieves allegedly broke into a house in the Titabar N Ali area of Assam’s Jorhat district and fled with gold and silver ornaments and cash worth around ₹25 lakh, police said on Monday.

According to police, the incident took place at the residence of Sujat Ahmed in Titabar N Ali under the jurisdiction of Jaluknibari Police Outpost in Titabar. The theft came to light on Monday morning, following which the matter was reported to the police.

A preliminary investigation has indicated that the thieves took jewellery and cash collectively valued at around ₹25 lakh from the house. Police have launched an investigation based on the First Information Report (FIR) lodged by Ahmed’s family members. Efforts are underway to identify and apprehend those involved in the burglary.-----------
