Hyderabad, 14 September (H.S.): The India Meteorological Department (IMD), Hyderabad has forecast another spell of heavy monsoon rainfall in Telangana on Monday and issued a yellow alert for the State.

The weather department has forecast heavy rainfall in Adilabad, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Hanumakonda, Hyderabad, Jagtial, Jangaon, Jayashankar Bhupalapally, Kamareddy, Karimnagar, Khammam, Kumaram Bheem Asifabad, Mahabubabad, Mahabubnagar, Mancherial, Medak, Medchal-Malkajgiri, Mulugu, Nalgonda, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Peddapalli, Rajanna Sircilla, Rangareddy, Sangareddy, Siddipet, Suryapet, Vikarabad, Warangal and Yadadri Bhuvanagiri districts.

For Hyderabad, the IMD has forecast rain and thundershowers.

The forecast follows heavy rainfall that lashed Hyderabad and several other parts of Telangana late on Sunday and early Monday. Siddipet recorded the highest rainfall of 145.3 mm, followed by Medak with 108 mm and Yadadri Bhuvanagiri with 100.5 mm.

In Hyderabad, Tirumalagiri recorded the highest rainfall of 95 mm. Maredpally and Musheerabad received 72.5 mm each, while Secunderabad recorded 65.5 mm, Khairatabad 57 mm and Saidabad 51.8 mm.

The rainfall has also helped narrow the southwest monsoon deficit in the State and Hyderabad, according to the data provided.

Hyderabad has received 393.8 mm of rainfall against the normal 535.6 mm during the current southwest monsoon, recording a deficit of 26 per cent.

Across Telangana, rainfall has reached 519.1 mm against the normal 649.9 mm, leaving the State with a 20 per cent deficit.

The latest forecast indicates that further rainfall on Monday could help reduce the monsoon deficit in Hyderabad and other parts of Telangana.
