New Delhi, 14 September (H.S.): Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the fifth edition of SEMICON India 2026 at Yashobhoomi, New Delhi, on September 17. The three-day event, scheduled from September 17 to 19, will bring together leading global semiconductor and electronics companies, policymakers, investors, researchers, start-ups and academia.

Organised jointly by the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM), Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and SEMI, SEMICON India 2026 will be held under the theme “Silicon to Systems: Building the Ecosystem”. The event is expected to feature more than 600 exhibitors, including around 300 international companies, over 150 speakers, six country pavilions and 12 state pavilions.

The exhibition will showcase India’s capabilities across the semiconductor value chain, covering materials, manufacturing, advanced packaging, chip design, electronics and systems. A new “Sand to Silicon to Systems” Value Chain Experience will offer visitors an integrated view of the sector.

The event comes as India accelerates efforts to establish a strong and resilient semiconductor ecosystem. Under the Semicon India Programme, the Government has approved 12 semiconductor projects, with three projects approved under Semicon 1.0 having already commenced commercial production. The Union Cabinet has also approved Semicon 2.0 to further accelerate sectoral development.

The Government is also supporting semiconductor research, innovation and design. Electronic design automation tools have been made available to more than 400 academic institutions and 105 start-ups, while 24 start-ups have been approved under the Design Linked Incentive Scheme.

With the global semiconductor market projected to exceed USD 2 trillion by 2030 and India’s semiconductor demand expected to reach around USD 103 billion, SEMICON India 2026 is aimed at strengthening investment, technology partnerships, innovation and supply-chain linkages.

The event seeks to reinforce India’s position as a trusted global partner and an emerging hub for semiconductor and electronics manufacturing.
