Amaravati, 14 September (H.S.): Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan on Sunday described the successful conclusion of the 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi as a “moment of immense pride for Bharat” and congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi and those involved in organising the summit.

In a post on X, Kalyan said India’s chairship of BRICS had demonstrated the country’s growing confidence and constructive leadership on the global stage.

He highlighted the significance of the grouping, noting that BRICS countries together represent around 50 per cent of the world’s population and 40 per cent of global GDP. He said the grouping had an important role in shaping the global economic and geopolitical landscape.

Kalyan said India had steered its BRICS chairship under the theme “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability”. He congratulated the Prime Minister, Ministry of External Affairs, Union Government, diplomats, officials and other teams whose efforts contributed to the summit.

According to the post, the summit strengthened the agenda for economic and financial cooperation, trade, investment, resilient supply chains and development finance. It also advanced cooperation in artificial intelligence, innovation, technology, energy and food security.

Kalyan said the summit also reinforced collective efforts on peace and security, combating terrorism, climate action and sustainable development, while seeking to strengthen the voice of the Global South.

He described the adoption of the BRICS New Delhi Declaration as an important step towards translating the grouping’s shared priorities into cooperation and action.

“Bharat’s BRICS Chairship has once again demonstrated our nation’s growing confidence and constructive leadership on the global stage,” Kalyan said, expressing hope that BRICS would continue to build stronger partnerships and create shared opportunities.

India hosted the 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi on September 12 and 13, marking its fourth chairship of the grouping. The current BRICS grouping comprises Brazil, China, Egypt, Ethiopia, India, Indonesia, Iran, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa and the United Arab Emirates.

Kalyan said the summit and India’s chairship reflected the country’s role in advancing cooperation on issues of common interest among BRICS members and strengthening engagement with the wider Global South.
