Imphal, 14 September (HS): Security forces and police arrested several cadres and alleged extortionists linked to different proscribed groups in separate operations across Manipur over the last 24 hours, officials said.

Based on reliable intelligence corroborated by 31 Assam Rifles, a team of CDO-Imphal West conducted an operation in the Moidangpok area and arrested an active cadre of KCP (PWG), identified as 26-year-old Thangjam Sanatomba Singh alias Thembung, a resident of Moidangpok Makha Leikai.

In another operation, CDO-Imphal West, acting on intelligence corroborated by 33 Assam Rifles, arrested Sanjenbam Albert Meetei, 26, alias Lukhoi, from his residence at Takyel Khongbal Leirak Achouba. He was allegedly involved in extortion activities and was identified as an active member of KCP (Apunba).

A separate search operation at Patsoi Unik-Khong Bazar led to the arrest of 48-year-old Khongbantabam Inao Singh alias Iboyaima, a member of PRE-PAK (PRO), allegedly involved in extortion. Police recovered ₹18,500 and a mobile handset from his possession.

Meanwhile, a joint team of Lilong Police Station and CDO-Thoubal arrested 66-year-old Bibi Leihan and 40-year-old Md. Faroque from Lilong Usoipokpi. The team seized 182 SP capsules and heroin weighing a total of 133 grams, including 12 grams concealed in a soap case and 121 grams packed in 91 plastic vials.

In another joint operation, CDO-Imphal East and 31 Assam Rifles arrested two alleged extortionists and active KCP (Apunba) members from Phaknung, Imphal East. They were identified as 22-year-old Phijam Chingtam Meitei and 25-year-old Hijam Nanao Meitei alias Akanao, both residents of Sekta Mayai Leikai.---------------
