Kolkata, 14 September (H.S.): The West Bengal unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has carried out a major organisational reshuffle in its media, social media, IT and spokesperson teams as part of efforts to strengthen the party’s organisational structure. The new appointments, made under the direction of state BJP president and MP Shamik Bhattacharya, have come into effect immediately.

An official notification in this regard was issued by Shashi Agnihotri, state office in-charge and state general secretary.

Under the new arrangement, advocate Debjit Sarkar has been appointed as the chief spokesperson of the state BJP. The spokesperson panel includes Ritesh Tiwari, Sayantan Bose, Keya Ghosh, Pranoy Roy, Dr Tanmoy Mukherjee, Saptarshi Chowdhury, Ophelia Singha, Ankan Dutta, Megha Sen Roy, Dr Nikhil Prasun Singh, Shamik Dasgupta, Sudipto Guha and retired Major Ritwik Paul.

Saptarshi Chowdhury has been retained in the spokesperson panel and has also been assigned responsibility Dir party literature. However, he has been removed from the post of social media convenor, a position he previously held.

Anupam Ghosh has been appointed convenor of the media department, while Partha Sarathi Chowdhury and Chandrashekhar Basutia will serve as co-convenors.

Joy Mallick has been appointed convenor of the social media department. Ratnesh Singh, Ramyajyoti Sarkar, Shubhojit Karmakar and Sabyasachi Roy have been appointed co-convenors.

In the IT department, Upamanyu Bhattacharya has been appointed convenor, while Pritam Bhattacharya and Kamelia Sanyal will serve as co-convenors.

The reshuffle comes as the state BJP seeks to strengthen its media outreach, digital communication and organisational publicity. The party leadership is expected to use the newly constituted teams to streamline its communication strategy and expand its presence across traditional and digital platforms.
