Lucknow, 14 Sept (HS): Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi

Adityanath attended the Uttar Pradesh Lokayukta's 50th Foundation Day

festivities on Monday in Lucknow. He graced the golden jubilee celebrations as

chief guest. CM Yogi emphasized that public trust is democracy's greatest asset

and the foundation for successful governance. He underlined the necessity for

timely, evidence-based, and equitable resolution of corruption charges. A

special display documenting the Lokayukta organization's 50-year journey was

unveiled, coupled with the distribution of a commemorative souvenir and

information booklet.

On the occasion of the 50th Foundation Day of the Lokayukta

Organization, Uttar Pradesh, at the event organized in Lucknow, UP CM said, “Technology

should be that which serves as a means for public welfare. It should make the

steps taken towards good governance even more effective. This is good

governance. The sentiments of our constitution makers behind the creation of

the Indian Constitution were these. In the past nine and a half years, we have

resolved 34 lakh cases. Today, we are providing the benefit of ration

facilities to 16 crore people within the state without any discrimination. The

greatest test of democracy is that we prove ourselves worthy of the people's

trust.”

CM Yogi emphasized that just constructing institutions was

insufficient, and that their effectiveness should be judged by whether the

average person received timely justice.

We must remember that the greatest strength of democracy is

ordinary citizens' faith in any constitutional institution. He stated that no one

can reduce the growth or value of an institution that lives up to the

confidence of the general public in a democracy. The Chief Minister stated that

successful administration relied on preserving public trust in constitutional

institutions and ensuring that even those at the bottom of society could

approach them without reluctance. This is our baseline--the most important

measure of democracy--that we uphold public trust, he stated.

Adityanath thanked Lokayukta officials, law officers, and

young law students on the institution's 50-year journey. He stated that the

organization began officially functioning on September 14, 1977, under Justice

Vishwambhar Dayal and is presently led by Lokayukta Justice Sanjay Mishra.

Adityanath also emphasized the need of preventing institutions from being

abused through bogus complaints. He stated that while real issues should be

addressed promptly, complainants presenting unfounded petitions should be

forced to give specific proof.

The system has limited time. If you have a particular issue, mention it;

otherwise, your petition should be denied, he added, noting that frivolous

complaints waste both the administration's and people' time in pursuing actual

justice.

He highlighted the significance of technology in enhancing

governance, citing improvements in Uttar Pradesh's Public Distribution System

(PDS). He said that the use of computerized Point of Sale equipment and

real-time monitoring helped minimize anomalies and reduce PDS-related

complaints. He highlighted to Revenue Department changes, which resulted in

millions of land-related cases outstanding in 2017. He stated that defined

timetables had been established for inheritance, measurement, and land-use

disputes in order to eliminate delays and promote accountability. Adityanath

stated that technology-driven reforms and time-bound grievance redressal are

critical to increasing public' trust in government and democratic institutions.

“The greater the integrity, transparency, and honesty in

governance, the more effectively we will be able to achieve the goals of good

governance. A dedicated Lokayukta organization for independent, impartial, and

legally compliant investigation of corruption-related complaints was

inaugurated at the event held today in Lucknow on the occasion of the 50th

Foundation Day. On this occasion, the Lokayukta administration's commemorative souvenir

and information booklet were also released. Heartiest congratulations and best

wishes for a prosperous future to all the authorities, legal officers, and

young law students of the Lokayukta organization on its glorious 50-year

journey,” he stated in a post on X.

“The meaningfulness of good governance lies in public trust,

and the foundation of public trust is strengthened by transparency,

impartiality, and accountability. While institutionalizing these values, I will

participate today in Lucknow in the 50th Foundation Day celebration of the

Lokayukta Organization, Uttar Pradesh, which is completing five decades of its

glorious journey. On this occasion, along with viewing an exhibition and short

film based on the organization's 50-year developmental journey and

achievements, a souvenir and information booklet will also be released. May

this golden journey, dedicated to democratic decorum and clean administration,

continue to progress unceasingly—this is my wish,” he opined earlier today in a

post on X.
