Bhubaneswar, 14 September (H.S.): Ganesh Chaturthi is being celebrated with religious fervour and enthusiasm across Odisha, with people in urban and rural areas gathering to offer prayers to Lord Ganesha, revered as the remover of obstacles.
Students have emerged as among the most enthusiastic participants in the celebrations. Schools and local puja committees have made elaborate preparations, with young devotees seeking the blessings of Lord Ganesha for success in their studies and future endeavours.
The festival has also witnessed a spirit of competition among organisers over the size of idols, elaborate pandal decorations and innovative themes. While some locations have installed idols as tall as 62 feet, others have gone for massive 72-foot idols, adding to the festive grandeur.
The participation of youngsters has been welcomed by elders, who said that the enthusiasm of the younger generation was encouraging as it reflected the continuation of traditional festivals and cultural practices.
Meanwhile, the Commissionerate Police has stepped up security and intensified patrolling across Bhubaneswar ahead of the celebrations. Police personnel have been conducting patrols through the city’s lanes and bylanes while maintaining a close watch on various activities to ensure peaceful and orderly celebrations.
